40 YEARS, 40 STORIES | THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE VIPER

40 YEARS, 40 STORIES | THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE VIPER

Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks, by the end of December, it became clear that the building was unsuitable for any kind of catering, as the glass envelope of the building did not meet, so we couldn’t heat the space at all, and we could feel the cold from outside inside. So it was not possible to run an entertainment venue there, the builder made a huge mistake, but it was too late...

Life is not all success there are failures as well.

In 2006, the family started to build a bar and nightclub on the first floor of the glass palace on Vörösmarty Square.

Viper opened in December 2007 with a large team of 30-40 people.

We had a huge opening party, the team was very enthusiastic and the location was ideal.

Eventually, due to the unsatisfactory operating conditions, the family decided to close the Viper three weeks after it opened, on 20 December 2007...

Ilona recalled this short period as the saddest week of her life. With a lot of investment and hard work, they created a forward-looking place that was destined to succeed - but the conditions outside were not suitable for running it.

In every bad there is something good and Roy always refers back to the Viper in the way that he was fortunate to do his homework thoroughly both before signing the lease and when terminating it.

He spent a lot of time studying the contract. It turned out to be a very important step when he had to sit down with the owner of the property to ask him to reimburse the full amount of the investment, as the building was not ideal for the purpose for which it was rented.

It took a few months to complete the project, whereby the property owner reimbursed the full amount of the investment.

It is a fact of life that there are difficult moments and periods in the life of a person or a company. In such times, it is always important to keep in mind that we will solve it, we must solve it, we must move on. Because there are no problems, only tasks to be solved.

Thanks to Roy's diligence and family solidarity, the family now sees the Viper not as a failure but as an opportunity: with the closure of Viper the preparations for the 21 Hungarian Kitchen started in 2008…
