Pierrot looked very special compared to the design and image of the time.
The partitions were made of thick, curved bamboo and the marble-topped tables were surrounded by bamboo chairs. The front room also had a piano, covered with a tablecloth. Live piano music was part of the concept from the start. A sofa for two or three people and a table with four chairs were placed in front of the bar.
Saturday was on the 23rd October of that year, but that was not a lucky date so the opening was moved to Thursday 21st of October.
Pierrot opened without anyone knowing about it except Ilona and Peter's friends. They planned a quiet opening to see how it worked.
When they thought about what Pierrot should be, they wanted a place that people would talk about and where people would want to meet, a place worth coming up to Buda Castle after work in the afternoon.
It worked so well that Pierrot quickly became the meeting place for the art world, the political scene, bankers, and a spot in Budapest for many big Hollywood stars and cool international bands…
